CORNAGLIA

Company: Cornaglia – Italy

Cornaglia Group Spa is an Italian company operating as a supplier of systems for the Automotive sector.
Cornaglia’s history began in 1916 in a joint venture with Officine Metallurgiche Giletta, active in sheet metal processing and trade, with a factory in the heart of Turin.
In 1937 Giuseppe Cornaglia took over the entire property and today the Cornaglia Group is a solid international company that employs about 1,000 people. In Italy it is present with the headquarters of Beinasco (TO) and 6 other plants to which are added those in Poland, Romania, Turkey, Brazil, Canada and India.
The Group has long been committed to reducing the environmental impact of its activities with solutions that include, among other things, photovoltaic systems and LED lighting.

As part of an ambitious energy efficiency program aimed at obtaining carbon neutrality in its production chain, the Cornaglia Group wanted to test an innovative solution that would guarantee energy savings and improve power quality.

The Project

In October 2019 was installed an EP2500A device at the plant in Villarbasse (TO), which is part of the Plastic Division of the Group, where rotational, blowing and injection molding processes are carried out.
The main cabin in which the EP-X system was installed downstream of the medium voltage transformer mainly powers machinery with and without inverters, for a used power of about 1,300 kW and an annual energy consumption of about 5,600,000 kWh:
Cabin 1:
• Inverter Machinery: 40%
• Non-inverter machinery: 40%
• Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning: 10%
• Traditional lighting: 5%
• LED lighting: 5%

The customer is proceeding with the installation of 3 other EP-X devices on 3 other production sites of the group in Italy.
